Each Sunday as I prepare the lesson for my little group of pre-kindergartners, I thank God for the privilege of being able to point them to a God who is more wonderful than any of us can imagine. I grew up in Sunday school. I heard the Bible stories. I learned a thousand ways to "act like a Christian." But I never really saw the God who reveals Himself on every page of His Word. I've taught God's precious little ones for 15 years and have been frustrated with all of the material I've used. It seems most curricula teaches that kids are supposed to do certain things in order to please God, without mentioning that only through faith in Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit can they do things that please Him!...I almost cried when I read about Children Desiring God. [The following story is about a 4-year-old boy.] God's Spirit is not limited to age or understanding. Reuben was standing by the back door looking out while Ruth was making a cup of coffee. He gazed out and said..."the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever"! Ruth only just heard him and asked him what he said and he repeated it word for word. We are using your Children Desiring God Curriculum and loving it. Our kids are truly growing spiritually, and our teachers are being challenged each week as they prepare for their lessons. We have one teacher that is teaching How Majestic is Your Name, and she told me that her husband uses her lesson as research for his adult men class (ages 55+)!--Eric

I have taught Sunday school for 20 years, and I have never had such powerful material as this. My small group of (grades 1 & 2) would thank me every week for the lessons. We had so much fun learning together. We are sad that it is coming to an end as the visuals, scriptures, object lessons, and biblical truths have been profound. These kids are hungry to know about the Lord. They sit on the edge of their seats as I share the Old Testament stories with them. We used Things Hidden for our Vacation Bible School this summer and loved it. The material was so centered upon the Word. The kids heard a very clear message about grace, the Kingdom, repentance, and our Savior God. Even the suggested worship songs were real worship!
