Biblical Womanhood and Church Ministry

date: Mar 12, 2011 | speaker: Connie Oman | topic: Biblical Manhood and Womanhood

There is much fulfilling work for women in the church, while embracing a complementary role that supports men in ministry. Consideration will be given as to how a woman serves in a leadership role biblically—coming under the appropriate male leadership with a submissive, supportive, and a servant-helper demeanor. We will review the scriptural foundation for gender roles, and seek to make specific application to areas of service for women.

Mars and Venus on the Playground: Cultivating Biblical Manhood and Womanhood

date: Mar 11, 2011 | speaker: Russell Moore | topic: Biblical Manhood and Womanhood

Raising the next generation is difficult enough without cultural confusion about what it means to be a man or a woman. This session will call teachers and church leaders toward a vision of biblical manhood and womanhood, and will challenge us to start training toward masculinity and femininity from the very beginning. We will examine particular aspects of confusion addressed by Scripture as specifically faced by boys (pugilism or passivity), or toward girls (aggression or sexual objectification). The discussion will seek to equip parents to recognize problem areas, to encourage patterns of growth, and to break free from cultural stereotypes of masculinity and femininity, which in the end subvert a Christian concept of the glories of manhood and womanhood.

Raising Boys to be Godly Men in a Confused and Conflicted Culture

date: May 01, 2009 | speaker: Ian Fry | topic: Biblical Manhood and Womanhood

We need to equip children and youth to respond to a worldview that breaks down distinctions between the sexes, resulting in confusion and conflict. We will seek to explain how this happened, expose the underlying assumptions of popular feminism, and refocus our thinking through the lens of Scripture so boys and young men have a great vision of what God has called them to and equipped them for in this generation.
